Neuf Jours: Out and About

If you are at all like me, you have been daydreaming about walking the streets of London and Paris. But what happens when you're out and about in Paris and need to communicate about your wants and needs? Never fear! Here are a few phrases to help!

Combien ça coûte? /kohm-bee-ah(n) sah coot/ (How much does it cost?)
Je voudrais... /zhuh voo-dray/ (I would like...) - a couple of examples are below, but when in doubt, point at what you would like!

  • de l'eau /duh low/ (some water)
  • un sandwich /uh(n) sandwich/ (a sandwich)
  • un café /uh(n) cah-fay/ (a coffee)
  • acheter /ahsh-uh-tay/ (to buy)

Je suis perdu /zhuh swee pehr-doo/ (I am lost)
Où est... /ooh eh.../ (Where is...?)

  • la toilette /lah twah-let/ (the restroom)
  • le Métro /luh metro/ (the metro)
Parlez-vous anglais? /pahr-lay voo ahn-glay/ (Do you speak English?)
Je ne parle pas français /zhuh nuh pahrl pah frahn-say/ (I do not speak French)

Keep practicing...nine more days!
