Dix Jours!

That is correct! We are a mere dix jours, or ten days, away from our trip! Before I go into French manners, I have a packing consideration for you. I have yet to stay in a European hotel that has washcloths. Bath towels, oui. Hand towels, oui. Bath mats, oui. Washcloths, non. I would suggest either packing a loofa or a couple of washcloths and bring along a couple of Ziploc baggies to keep them in. You can survive on two washcloths...just rinse and dry them well when you are done in the shower. A loofa is probably easiest - it's up to you! Just a thought...
Now, onto our French lesson. Today, our focus is on manners. The French are big on manners, and who can blame them?! Being polite is certainly the civilized thing to do!

oui /wee/ (yes)
non /noh/ (no)
s'il vous plaît /seel -voo-pleh/ (please)
merci /mehr-see/ (thank you)
merci beaucoup /mehr-see  boh-koo/ (thank you very much)
de rien /duh ree-ah(n)/ (you're welcome)
pardonnez-moi /pahr-dohn-ay  mwah/ (pardon me)
excusez-moi /ex-kuh-zay  mwah/ (excuse me)

Whether you are in a crowded street or le Métro or in a restaurant or hotel, these few basics will earn you much favor with the French!
